A study in color and texture, this piece uses pastel to evoke fluid, transitional visual states. Through layered application, pigment is built up and softened, allowing colors to shift gradually across the surface. The medium’s inherent softness lends itself to nuanced blending, creating a sense of quiet movement within the composition.
Pigment drifts and merges across the surface, forming gradients that feel both intentional and organic. Subtle variations in pressure and layering produce a range of textures, from velvety smooth passages to more visibly worked areas. These shifts in surface quality invite close viewing and emphasize the tactile nature of pastel.
Edges soften and boundaries blur, guiding the eye through continuous transitions rather than fixed forms. The composition unfolds through these gentle shifts in color and texture, encouraging a contemplative and immersive viewing experience grounded in perception and materiality.
